Objectives of the Course To introduce the student of mathematical research. Student conducts independent research under the supervision of a faculty member, and presents his findings as a poster.
Course Content Student with his/her supervisor decides on a topic in contemporary mathematics. With the help of his/her supervisor the student absorbs the background material necessary to learn the topic. Student learns the literature on that topic. Student thus learns the methods to apply. Student works on the topic. Student shares the progress with his/her supervisor in weekly meetings. Student presents his findings as a poster at the end of the semester.
