Course Details
Language of Instruction English
Level of Course Unit First Cycle
Department / Program PHYSICS
Mode of Delivery Face to Face
Type of Course Unit Compulsory
Objectives of the Course To become familiar with the Circuits experiment board.
To learn how to construct a complete electrical circuit and represent electrical circuits with circuit diagram.
Determine how capacitors behave in a RC circuit
To plot the equipotential lines in the space between a pair of charged electrodes and relate the electric field to these lines
Verifying the electrostatic force –distance relationship, and the electrostatic force-charge relationship and also determining the Coulomb constant.
To investigate the nature of charging an object by contact as compared to charging by induction and variations of charge densities.
Course Content This course provides an introduction to the methods of experimental physics. Particular emphasis is placed on aspects of experimentation: laboratory technique, including both the execution and the documentation of an experiment; data analysis, including the systematic errors; and written communication of experimental procedures and results. The concepts and skills for measurement and data analysis are acquired gradually through a series of experiments covering a range of topics from electrostatics to magnetic fields.
